Here’s the story of how I wrote this version of Nothing But The Blood (Lowry):

In the late 1980s I was on a business trip to Atlanta. It was later in the evening, the conference I was with was having a party in the hotel, but I decided to retire.

In my room I could hear the noise of the party coming up through the atrium from very many floors below. I had brought my guitar on this trip. I was feeling pensive and prayerful. As I sat in my room I began to play this song and the chords started to flow in a different direction than normal.

As always in the creative process, when you strike upon something that is worth bringing forth it brings joy. I loved what I was hearing and I loved playing it.

Years later when I got into the studio, my friend, John King was producing it and I really love the way he enhances what I’m doing on guitar & vocal. The backgrounds are so peaceful.

I hope you enjoy it.
